Eliza walked up with Conor in tow, the little boy was resting his head on his mother's shoulder as she carried him towards his father's apartment. It had been some time since she had really spent any time with Zephyr, although things were strange at times she knew in her heart that there was still so much love in there for him that she could never be without him again.
She had decided to surprise Zephyr with a coordinating look for both her and Conor, a look that she knew would knock Sox' socks off. Red Sox attire head to toe, plus little wings on Conor's tennis shoes to give a little wink at his granddad. She herself was wearing a hopefully semi-familiar outfit for him, it was the outfit from one of their first dates.
As Eliza reached the front door, she made a slight adjustment to rest her son on her hip, the four year old grouchily making a slight growling noise as he rubbed his face roughly before going right back to sleep. Ellie knew that he had been having a bit of trouble the last couple of nights, but hopefully some dad time would give him an energy boost, or even Eliza a chance to relax.
Doing a couple raps on the door Eliza smiled and gave Conor a quick kiss on the temple before adjusting once again to give Zephyr a better picture of his two biggest fans. Eliza's OutfitConor's Outfit

Ever since the attack on camp by the Gorgon, Zephyr had not been himself. He’d been a bit down about his now dead roommate. He knew that he’d probably get a new one soon but he just wasn’t ready to move on. As demigods, everyone was expected to get over the death of another demigod quickly. Demigods’ lives were short and being a demigod was a hazardous way of life, but that didn’t mean that people could get move on from the death of someone at camp instantly. This wasn’t the first death that Zephyr had experience of someone that he was close to and it would not be the last, and Zephyr knew this but it didn’t mean he couldn’t mope and be depressed about it even a little bit. Zephyr had only really known April for a considerably short amount of time but he had connected with her like he would connect with a blood related sibling and with her gone his apartment just felt too empty.
Top all of that off Zephyr was in pain from those stupid shards that the gorgon had shot out at everyone. Zeph could still feel the ones in his arm and shoulder blade if he moved his arm or shoulder just right, not to mention the ones in his back which had forced him to sleep on his stomach for now. Today Zephyr was sitting on the couch trying to get comfortable as he read one of his books when he heard the knocks on the door. Zephyr sighed wondering who it could be and got up with a groan knowing no one else would get the door for him anymore for the time being.
When he got to the door he couldn’t help but smile. His two most favorite people in the world were standing on his doorstep. It had been some time since he had spent time with the two of them and seeing them helped cheer him up slightly. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the matching outfits that he knew Eliza had specifically picked out for his benefit. He recognized the outfit Eliza was wearing as being one that she had wore on one of their first dates; he was somewhat surprised it still fit her.
“Hey you two, come on inside.” He said stepping aside to let them in and closing the door after they’d come through. “What brings you two to my bachelor pad?” he said with a slightly chuckle that Eliza could probably see right through that wasn’t genuine. Eliza could probably tell that something was up with Zephyr.

When Zephyr answered the door, Eliza's smile beamed for only a moment before her eyes had a chance to catch up to her heart. Something was off... Way off.
"We were just taking up that offer to stop by at random times you know..." Her defined eyebrow raised slightly but with Conor in her arms she was not going to be able to ask all the questions going through her mind right then and there.
As Conor heard his dad's voice he looked up and half smiled before his heavy head fell back onto his mom's shoulder, the kid was just unable to keep awake no matter how happy he was to be awake. He lifted his hand and gave up couple squeezes of it to wave wearily, but even that effort seemed to much and he passed right back out, his arm dropping next to his body.
Eliza smiled and kissed her son's head again before walking through the door and looking around the well decorated apartment, she slowly turned around and nudged her head at Conor. "Any place I can put Sleepy down for a bit? He had a long night." She adjusted once again but walked through the apartment before really fully giving Zephyr a chance to talk. She knew his answer would be yeah, now she wanted to find his room, lay Conor down then get some alone time with Zeph... If just enough to find out what was going on.
As Ellie searched the rooms, she came upon an obvious girl's room, it was April, Zeph's roommate's, but things had obviously not been touched in a little while, add in that there were new boxes that were half-filled with things someone with such girly taste would need every day. Quickly, figuring that this had at least something to do with what was going on Eliza walked out, closing the door tightly behind her and headed into the opposite room.
As she walked into Zephyr's room, a slight smirk crossed her lips as she saw the tornado-ridden-like mess that it was. Ellie stepped over the different piles of clothes, gingerly getting over to what seemed like the only clean spot in the room, Zeph's bed. Laying Conor down on his stomach, she sat down next to him and gently rubbed his back until she was sure he was completely out.
Once her mind was at ease on her son, she had time to focus on his father, as she stood and walked through the room, much less gingerly this time, she grabbed Zeph's hand and attempted to pull him towards the couch. "Make sure to close your door but not all the way, just in case he wakes up."
She looked back and stopped midways of pulling him and looked up at his face, without saying anything Eliza pulled herself in and wrapped her arms around Zephyr's waist giving him a tight hug. She knew something was up but right then, Sox looked like he needed a hug much more than he needed a talk.

“Oh right.” Zephyr said smiling back at his sleepy son. “Hey Squirt,” he said. When Eliza asked if there was anywhere that she could put the tuckered out Conor, Eliza didn’t even wait for his response before she started to walk off before he could say yeah. Which she obviously knew was the answer. Zephyr followed slowly after her as she made her way to the bedrooms.
When she walked into April’s room he paused where he was. He stood there silent as she loitered in his deceased roommate’s room. Ordinarily is she had wandered into his roommate’s room while she wasn’t there he would have quickly pulled her out and closed the door but not now. He hadn’t gone in there since April’s death, in fact he hardly had ever gone in there even when April was alive. He only sighed slightly barely audible especially not from where Eliza was when she came back out and went into the opposite room which was his. As she carefully navigated through his room and set Conor down on the bed, Zephyr leaned against the doorframe arms crossed.
He made no protest as Eliza grabbed his hand and started to pull him towards the couch on the other room. He nodded when she mentioned to close his door. He would in a moment but for now he just followed after Eliza but then she paused and looked back at him and without warning embraced him. Zephyr winched slightly as she hugged tightly. Slowly and gently he wrapped his around her returning the hug but a lot more gently. “You could tell couldn’t you…” Zephyr said into Eliza’s hair. Zephyr let out a sigh. “Careful. I’m still a little sore from the monster attack recently.” Zephyr said keeping his voice down as to not wake their son sleeping in Zephyr’s bedroom not too far away.
Zephyr pulled back slightly and looked at Eliza and attempted to smile. “I’ll be honest with you because you’ve somewhat already figured it out. My roommate…April…she…She…was a victim of the attack.” Zephyr said. “I miss her Liza. I really do. It’s a shame you never met her.” Zephyr said and placed his head on Eliza’s shoulder.

Eliza sighed softly, burying the side of her face into Zephyr's chest just a bit, "I figured something was off." She lifted her head up and her eyes filled with worry, "Are you okay... not wounded or injured right?"
Eliza's voice was softer than she normally would speak, but she was really wanting to listen to him more than anything, as he continued his words telling her of the death of someone close to him, Eliza's eyes welled up slightly with tears. "I figured that she was no longer here, but I truly hoped..." Eliza let her sentence trail off as she rested her head onto his chest again, not letting go in her embrace.
"I am sorry Sox, I would not wish that on anyone, especially someone whom you care about..."
She was at a loss for words and just stood there in silence for a moment, still holding onto him, eyes closed, just listening to his heartbeat. The sweet moment had sour notes to it, yet she knew that it was better that he was not alone.
"Would you mind if Conor and I stay with you for the night, so we don't have to be alone tonight?" She knew that Zephyr would figure that it was more for him not to have to be alone for the evening, but she would never make him seem weak to her. Zephyr was the strongest man she had ever known, in will and heart, it was not always obvious to everyone around them but Eliza only saw the man behind the humor and wit... The both which only made her love him more.
As she looked up at the man in front of her, she knew he was wounded, not just physically but there were deep ones inside that needed mending. Eliza was not expecting to fix them all in one night, but she knew she needed to try.

“I’ll live.” Zephyr said in response to Eliza asking if he injured. “Just don’t hug me too tightly alright. I sort of got some stupid shards in my shoulder, back and arm. But they’re nothing life threatening after all. Though I really should think about going to get them removed.” Zephyr said. As always putting things off that he should do for later. It was the procrastinating part of him that did that. Though he had gotten a little better about cleaning house besides his room when April was around to get on his butt about it.
Zephyr smiled lightly. “I would love for you two to spend the night. We can even make pizza or something.” He said. He knew that Eliza was saying the part about how so that she and their son didn’t have to be alone tonight for his benefit. It was rare that Zephyr showed weakness like this and even now he wasn’t crying but it was easier to do it in front of Eliza. Not that he ever cried really anyways but it was easier to let his guard down a bit with Eliza.
Zephyr was glad to have Eliza around again at time, especially times like this. Zephyr knew that without her he’d get through this but with her by his side he’d get there faster and with probably less suffering. “I…really don’t want to talk about this right now though…Are you hungry? I could make you something to eat. Or we could watch a movie. We have tons…April was a big movie…buff..” Zephyr said trailing off at the end and sighing this might be harder then he thought. He’d been through this before when he was a young boy when his twin brother and uncle died but it had been years since then and he’d never really put it to mind.

Eliza leaned back, loosening her arms as she looked up at Zephyr, "You got shards in you... From a monster attack... And left them in you for a period of time?" Her words were completely dry and a bit teasing, but she truly was concerned for Zephyr's health, "Non-life threatening? How do you know that, why would a monster throw shards if they were not life-threatening to some degree?" Her forehead furrowed, but she let out a sigh.
Her smile returned when he agreed to let her and Conor stay the night, it was just something Eliza needed now too, she was not leaving Sox's side until those damn shards were out of his body. "Pizza sounds delicious." She nodded, putting on a real smile, it was like they were a real family, not a mix-match of complications and set-backs.
She nodded and accepted that the things that needed to be talked about would come with time, she just needed to be there for Zephyr right now. "I am always starving, you should've seen me when I was pregnant, my roommates were complaining that we'd go grocery shopping and the same day everything would be gone." She laughed a bit, but it slightly softened as she thought about what she said, "I really wish I would've found a way to have gotten you there. Chiron be damned... Then again I scared people more then than I do now, mostly because they thought I'd pop, I have some funny and embarrassing pictures and videos back at my house if you ever at least want to see them, including the very embarrassing and slightly scarring birth video." She blushed a bit, but smirked just a small amount knowing that anyone who saw that video would bust out laughing at her screams of "Get It Out", her beautiful bundle of joy had become a parasitic monster that was about to get ripped out by Eliza herself by hour thirty.
As Eliza realized what Zeph had just said a soft sigh came to her, gently hugging him again, "I think a movie, some pizza, and definitely lots more cuddling is in order for you. We can talk about things as they come up. But I am pretty sure April would want you to mourn, as you are doing, but I hope she'd also want you to heal. I don't expect you to be alright by any means, not just yet, but I'm here and I'm not going anywhere any time soon... Sorry but you're stuck with me." She softly smiled, hoping that it helped even just a bit.
"So how about you show me to your kitchen and teach me how to be a great pizza chef Sox?"

Zephyr gave a guilty smile to Eliza as she seemed concerned about him having shards in him still. “Well I have been a little busy being depressed and what not you know. But as far as I can tell they’re really not immediately life threatening. They only hurt when I move my arm and shoulder a certain way and when I lay down on my back…not a biggie,” he said.
Zephyr smiled and chuckled a little at Eliza’s story. “Thanks but no thanks I’d rather not be slightly scarred” he said. “Especially not this week. I’ve had enough for now” he said.
“Sounds like a great plan. And I don’t think you need to apologize. I’m glad you’re sticking around. “ Zephyr said. He pulled out of the hug and his hand trailed down to find Eliza’s as he led her to the kitchen making a pit stop by his room to check on Conor and close the door, but not all the way.
“You’re in luck though. It just so happened I was planning on making Pizza tonight anyways. I already have the dough somewhat made up in the fridge. You’re welcome to help me if you’d like though” he said as he pulled open the refrigerator that still had old notes on the blackboard part of it. He pulled out a cold steel bowl with plastic wrap over it and set it on the counter along with a pack of shredded cheese a couple of tomatoes, and some fresh basil and grabbed some olive oil from the cabinet above his head, as well as a container of flour. He’d made up the dough only a few hours ago so it should be ready by now.
“You ever made pizza before?” Zephyr asked as he washed his hands and coated the counter with flour as well as his hands so the dough wouldn’t stick to either before fishing out the rolling pin. “Come here. We'll make this together. And you better roll up your sleeves, prepare to get dirty.” He said.

A concerned furrow of the brow came over her face, but Eliza took a moment and relaxed, "I understand, I mean, its not the end of the world, but if they get too painful, I will just have to go all mobster on you and remove them myself." She grinned a bit, knowing if she had to that's exactly what she would do without a second of hesitation.
She half-smiled, "Yeah, but my scarring will have a happier ending, plus you'd witness the miracle of birth... It really is... miraculous." She laughed a bit to keep from saying "that I did not kill someone in the process of it."
Eliza nodded her head as he led towards the kitchen, nodding her head as they made a quick moment stop by his room. A soft smile crept over her lips as she peeked at their sleeping child, a soft pout about how big he was getting came over her but only for a moment.
Turning her attention back to Zephyr, "I'd love to help you handsome, plus I think it'd be a good investment of time to actually learn how to make the stuff instead of constantly ordering it to the field office."
Eliza stepped back a bit and leaned into one of the kitchen's corners as she watch him get all the stuff out, she could not help the silly grin that had come over her lips as she let her mind wander to what things would be like if they actually lived together. Him teaching her to cook, actually having real family dinners most nights, Conor having both of them every night... It would be perfect, well as perfect as things could get in her mind.
When Zephyr spoke, Eliza snapped back to reality, shaking her head about, "Oh uh... Yeah, no." She laughed a bit, "Always lived off of restaurants and take out..." She blushed a bit.
Nodding her head, Eliza took a moment to pull up her sleeves, but after a moment of thinking she rolled her eyes and just removed her leather jacket tossing it over onto one of the couches. "That's better"
She laughed a bit, walking back over towards him and putting her hands on each side of the roller, "So when are you going to toss this thing in the air? That is something that you do right?" She smirked.

“Okay babe, you win. If they get too unbearable, I’ll get them removed… I’ll get them removed soon though anyways, they’re getting to be a pain in the rear anyways.” Zephyr said and kissed Eliza’s forehead. “Well maybe one day I’ll get to witness it…” he said. “And not just because of a home movie” he said with a half laugh. Eliza always had a way of cheering him up and distracting his mind from things he’d rather not think about.
“Yeah, you’re going to run out of money for delivery eventually, and it’s always a good investment to spend time with me as well. You know I may not know how to make too many dishes but I’m great at pizza.” Zephyr said as he flipped on the oven and set it to preheat while they would prepare the pizza before cooking it. “First thing you got to know is, always always always preheat your oven. It’s a good rule of thumb to always preheat the oven before sticking any kind of food in there. It always cooks better and more evenly as I discovered and you tend to not burn some parts while the others are fine” he said with a chuckle.
Zephyr watched as she took offer her jacket and smiled as he walked up behind her and placed his hands on top of hers on either side of the roller. “Well only people who are really good at that usually do it. Because amateurs end up dropping the dough and you don’t want to eat it after it’s been on the floor cooked or uncooked. “Now what we do is we roll out the dough like so” he said as he guided Eliza’s actions in making the rolling pin roll over the dough to flatten it out.
“Think you got the hang of that?” he asked after they had rolled it out a little bit. “try to roll it into a circle and when you got it pretty good…” he said and carefully picked up the dough with his hands and tossed it up in the air and then caught it. “You do that. And then repeat.” He said as he put the circular dough that had shrunk back somewhat a little back on the counter. “I’m going to start cutting up these tomatoes, okay? You don’t have to throw it up in the air if you don’t want to, just make sure it’s round and big okay” he said with a smile as he fished out a sharp knife.

Eliza smiled a smug, winning smile, she felt great to have at least a bit of a concession from Zephyr. She wished he would have already gotten them out, but she was going to have to accept that he would get it in his own time, its just kinda how he always did things. "Fine," Eliza nodded her head, "If they aren't out soon I really am going to do it myself." She laughed a bit.
She shrugged slightly at his talk of running out of money, but when he mentioned time with him, her heart beat a bit louder and she could not help but smile and blush. "Yeah... The second part really only effects me, I want to spend every moment I can with you... At least for the moment, don't quote me, us women tend to change our minds." She chuckled as she watched Zephyr with the oven, nodding her head, "Got it, make oven hot before you put cold things in it." She smirked a bit as she went over to the rolling pin.
As she felt Zephyr's body come over hers and his hands ontop of hers, Eliza's breath became shallow and her heart raced for a moment, it was cliche but she was swooning just a bit. But she'd never admit it to Sox that he made her weak in the knees with just the smallest motions. She heard what he was saying, but her mind was unable to process much more than reminding herself to not literally fall for Zephyr. It took every cell in her body to keep rolling out the dough and stand up, her head nodded as Zeph's words went in and rattled through her head. It really was just his voice she was wanting to hear, it was so very nice, just, perfect.
A slight, visible pout came over Eliza's lips as Zephyr stepped back a bit and picked up the dough, but her smile returned as he began tossing it into the air. "I think I'm gonna have to stick with the rolling pin... It's probably safer and yeah I really don't want floor flavored pizza tonight." She chuckled as she watched him put the dough back, before she turned back to rolling it out, "I don't mind if you go on and do the chopping Mr. Chef, I'm gonna roll this dough out... over and over again." She chuckled as she continued to do her little task, but it was nice just to be doing something so common and for some reason it felt amazing. Maybe her feelings for Sox were different than before, but they were just as strong and just as... amazing.

“Oh I wouldn’t know about that” Zephyr said with a smirk. “I mean I want to spend as much time as I can with you as well. You know make up for lost time” Zephyr said. “Oh you know I’ll quote you on that” he said with a chuckle as he went about helping.
Zephyr chuckled at Eliza’s comment calling him, Mr. Chef. “I can only make a few things, but what I can make I do pretty good. Maybe another night I can make us hamburgers, extra greasy just how you liked them” he said with a smile.
Zephyr chopped up the tomato with a practiced hand. He’d chopped tomatoes several times, helping his mom and uncle in the kitchen and making this pizza all the time back home in Boston. He’d cut his fingers several times in the past but now he could cut veggies and tomatoes easily without cutting his fingers, though it was a little harder with the distracting scent of the woman he had such deep feelings for and the mother of his child standing not too far away from him. Even her scent seemed to reach his nose above the smells in the kitchen already. Chopping quickly and trying not to look over his shoulder and look at Eliza while he did so, so he didn’t cut his finger on accident he finished up that while Eliza rolled out the dough some more.
Putting the tomato pieces into a small bowl he brought them over to where Eliza was working and pulled out a basting brush and a small dish with olive oil in it. “Okay the dough looks pretty good. Next we’re going to ‘paint’ on the olive oil on top of the dough. Like this” he said and dabbed the brush into the dish and quickly started to paint on the olive oil dabbing more on when he needed to. “Then sprinkle the cheese, basil and tomatoes on and stick it on a pan and stick it in the oven.” He said. “I’m going to go make sure Conor’s still doing okay. Haven’t heard from him in a while you know. Be back in a flash” he said with a smile and kissed Eliza on the cheek and left the kitchen to let Eliza sprinkle on the basil, cheese and tomatoes.
Walking out into the hallway towards his room, he couldn’t help but smile slightly. It seemed as though the two of them were falling back into the same sort of relationship they had before they had been forced to part ways. It hadn’t taken long for Zephyr to find those strong feelings for Eliza he had had when they last had seen each other. Peeking in on Conor, who was still asleep in his bed, Zephyr couldn’t help but wonder if this would be how it would be like if they were a real family. Making dinner together every night, enjoying each other’s company and what not. Zephyr had always known he wanted a family, and now he had one…sort of.
Walking back into the kitchen he smiled at Eliza, “Still out like a light. What were you saying about how he has trouble sleeping? Cause I don’t see it. Must be my bed” he said with a chuckle as he fished out a pizza pan to put the by now hopefully ready to put in the oven pizza on. He slid the pizza into the oven and set the timer before leaning against the counter watching Eliza. “How did I ever get so lucky with you?” he asked rhetorically out loud with a smile.

Eliza laughed fairly hard, shaking her head, "I should know that if I say not to quote me, that you will in fact do just the opposite... I think its one of the reasons that I..." She stopped her sentence there and took a long moment, she was not ready to say the word that her tongue wanted to come out quite badly, "I like you so much still." She half smiled and nodded, it was close enough but not full-truth, he'd probably know but she also felt like he'd be the only person she trusted to understand how she truly felt.
A wicked smirk came across her lips at the mention of greasy burgers, a little light patter of her heart as the memories of their first real date came up but she stilled her excitement, "Don't forget the ketchup and fries... mostly ketchup of course."
She laughed, "And to me my dear Sox, you are an accomplished master chef in comparison, my cooking is limited to making pulverized baby foods that I read about to save money when I had none, and of course peanut butter and jelly... never on toast, I burn toast, but still it will keep you alive enough."
Her voice was filled with laughter still, "But I do have the best phone dialing fingers ever, and I can find the best take-out an dine-in options anywhere." She smiled and wiggles her fingers up in the air, her lightheartedness never dropping for a moment, this was one of the many reasons she truly loved spending time with Zephyr, he made her forget negatives and just enjoy the small moments. They weren't making a culinary masterpiece, but it felt like one of the greatest moments in her life.
As Eliza continued to roll and stretch the dough, she talked over her shoulder a bit, "You know... This is probably the first time I have ever really enjoyed cooking, I'm saying I want to be a Suzy Homemaker, but this is definitely something I could see doing more often." She nodded at that thought, she would probably never be a good housewife, she know she was a good mother even if some didn't always agree with that, but they didn't matter, Conor had grown up into a sweet but mischievousness little boy, Eliza could never ask from more from him.
She took the repetitive task of rolling the dough as a chance to let her mind wander, would Conor be different if he had both Eliza and Zephyr in his life? She made sure that Conor heard as many stories and saw all the pictures of Zephyr that Eliza had, although there were not many, they at least gave him an idea of his father. She wanted her son to love his father as much as Eliza did, even more if she could, she had to admit she skipped over some more adult details in her stories and embellished them at times, but it was all to give her son's imagination a wonderful image of his dad.
As Zephyr came up behind her, Eliza's mind went back to the task at hand, she smiled a bit as he said the dough was ready. Her voice was at a loss for a moment, all the thoughts about what if's had made her a little sad for a moment. She wished she had these moments for all the years that were lost between them. She watched him paint on the oil, an unusually soft smile came over Eliza's face, she nodded her head as she started to sprinkle, but just as she started, a quick kiss from Zephyr had her frozen for a moment in just a moment of real happiness.
As he whirled away, Eliza sat her hands on each side of the dough on the counter, pushed back and gave her head a moment to stop from spinning, her heart a moment to slow and fade its pounding. For some reason everything that was happening around her this evening was surreal, it was dream she felt like she had before, but now, it was real... it was actually happening. Everything was coming to life and it was just so much wonderful things happening at once.
Quickly Eliza went ahead and got back to work, she started to sprinkle the toppings onto the pizza until it looked filled up enough to have a good amount of each in every bite, she didn't want to overload it and make it soggy. That was a lesson she had learned from some of her early take-out adventures, too many toppings meant a very soggy, overly floppy pizza.
As she finished, Zephyr returned to the kitchen, she smiled and chuckled softly, before sighing, "He is sleeping so deeply right now because I have been giving him a sort of homeopathic medicine that I got from the infirmary. Its all natural, but I am wanting to test it out on him in small, controlled doses. I know you were against the idea of using alcohol, so I am trying an alternative option, so far it seems to be working so I am hopeful." She sighed and rubbed her arm slightly, "It could also be that he sleeps better here because we are both here, he sleeps perfectly almost when I am laying by him, I think its just from feeling much safer. I mean, I feel the same way."
She watched him put the pizza in the oven and smiled a bit to herself, just watching him. As he tuned around facing her from across the room, she blushed a bit and was caught at a bit of surprise at his question.
It took her only a moment or two before she walked over, wrapping her arms up, around his neck and smiled up at him, "That is a question I have been asking myself since the moment I first saw you after all these years." She leaned up and gave him a soft kiss, tightening her embrace on him for a few moments.

Zephyr chuckled. He knew what she meant without her even having to say the words. “I like you so much too” he said with a smile. “Of definitely mustn’t forget the ketchup” he said playfully. He could never forget how much Eliza liked ketchup.
“Don’t worry, Liza. I was a horrible cook starting out as well. You just got to figure out your strengths. I’ll admit I’ve burnt toast before…but that was because I forgot about it when I was trying to do too many things at once.” He said with a laugh.
“Babe, I could never see you as Suzy Homemaker, honestly.” He said with a smirk. The thought of Eliza being the perfect suburban housewife was a total and complete joke. Zephyr would never picture her that way, he just couldn’t it wasn’t something that Zephyr saw Eliza to be. Then again, he often times found it hard to believe how much Eliza had changed yet stayed the same after four years. But she was still as beautiful as ever.
“Ah…I see. Yeah I was against the idea of alcohol, but anything else I’m willing to try anything else if it helps him sleep” Zephyr said. He had no idea about Conor’s usual sleeping habits so he really had no way to judge but from what Eliza was saying, his son got horrible nightmares and he guess these drugs were helping. He remembered when he was little for a while after his brother had died he had trouble sleeping, but he couldn’t exactly know what his son was going through, but knew that Eliza was doing the best she could.
He smirked as he caught the pinkness in Eliza’s cheeks of her blushing from his comment. He loved the fact that he could still make her blush after all these years of not seeing each other.
When Eliza came up to him and wrapped his arms around his neck and smiled at him he couldn’t help but smile back. This was one of the moments he kept reliving over and over again. For that moment it seemed like this was all a dream. If it was a dream he didn’t want to wake up from it. He wrapped his arms around her smaller frame pulling her closer to him and kissed her back, gently but lovingly.
The two may not officially be a couple right now, but it didn’t seem that way at all. It felt as if they had just picked up where they had left off. Like they hadn’t been apart for more then a day much less four years. Zephyr held Eliza close not wanting to let go as they stood embraced in each other alone in the kitchen. Zephyr let out a content sigh and smiled at Eliza before he went in for another kiss this time not soft and gentle but a real deep kiss.
After a moment he pulled back to catch his breathe. It had been so long since they had kissed like that. Holding her tight against him supporting her back he pushed a strand of hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear as he stared into her gorgeous eyes. “Eliza…” he said softly. “I know things are somewhat different from when we last parted ways. But you know…” he said unable to find the right words that he wanted to use. Zephyr may have grown and matured but he still couldn’t think straight sometimes when he was this close to the Dionysus girl who had captured his attention. They say that actions speak louder then words. Zephyr couldn’t find the right words he wanted to say right now so he did the next best thing. He expressed it with action, as he leaned in to kiss Eliza again.

Eliza smiled at Zephyr, she really felt at home, it was not being back at Camp Half Blood, it was not the smell of fresh pizza cooking, nor was it the fact that she was in a perfect little cottage... It was because of him...
She smiled, "I burn it even when I don't forget about it, the kitchen is not always my biggest friend... But I'm willing to put in lots of practice under your teachings." She smirked slightly.
She laughed a bit and nodded in agreement, "I'm going to be the mom all the other soccer moms, I mean baseball moms, hate. I will bring store-bought cookies and tons of grape juice. I'll have a flask in my purse, right next to the juice box for Conor... And somehow I will have a gorgeous man by my side." She grinned wider than ever, knowing that he would get a little kick from that.
She shrugged slightly at the alcohol comment, "I understand, I just know that was the thing that worked best for me, but I didn't have the knowledge about the herbs that the one Demeter girl has. Its using a component of alcoholic drinks, but no alcohol. I kinda wish you could've seen how bad it was, but at the same time I wouldn't wish that on you, its really hard to hear your child scream and see them with true fear in their eyes every night over and over, never really being able to do anything about it." She frowned at the thoughts and she looked slightly sick to herself, it had been a long road but with the new herbs she really felt like her son could be at least normal in his sleep.
As she went up and embraced Zephyr, and him returning her kiss, Eliza's world felt like it had begun to spin around in a whirling, mushy goo of warming happiness. It was just so much to take in, she was feeling like she belonged again, which she loved, there was an ache in her heart that was being mended each second they were together...
Another kiss pushed Eliza more into her mushy goo world, she held on tightly in the embrace just because she felt if she let loose she'd be swept away and overcome by all the emotions and memories that were flying back. As Zephyr came up for air, it took all Eliza had in her not to crumble to the ground in her ecstatic state. Luckily, as always, Zephyr was supporting her, holding her up as he lightly brushed the hair from her face, it was another moment of sheer perfection for her. Staring back into his eyes, she knew her heart was fluttering and pounding all at once, as Zephyr began a sentence and trailed off a slight smirk came over her lips, it was good to have the idea that his mind was a blur as well. As he leaned in and kissed again, Eliza pushed up and kissed a little harder than before.
Then it happened, her own Jiminy Cricket came up in her head, she had not been completely honest and upfront with Zeph, if they were going to be anything real again, he needed to know about a small portion of the time they were apart... She knew she was risking everything, but she could not keep things from him, not big things.
She didn't know how to tell him fully that without him in the past few years she never felt like she had a home, no matter how cozy and perfect she made her loft back in the city, it was always missing something. When Conor hit about a year and a half, it was then she figured the only way to fill the hole in her heart, that the only thing missing was a man, any man, in her life that wasn't working on potty training... She needed to make a confession to Zephyr soon, it was going to be hard but she really hoped he'd understand.
Stepping back, but still holding onto Zephyr's forearms for support, her gooey-mush phase was going away but her head was still in a bit of a spin. "Sox... Zephyr, I do need to tell you something, its nothing that should effect us now but I feel you need to know."
Taking a deep, slow breath, Eliza crossed her arms loosely, she was preparing herself for the worst just in case, for some reason she always did that, force of habit was the only reason she came up with; "During the almost five years apart, I had hit a point when I felt like something, someone, was missing in my life. It was almost two years after Conor was born and I didn't see a future of us coming back together. Although it hurts me to admit it, I did try and move on. In fact I did a rather good job of trying, I had met a young man who was also a club promoter, he was attractive and nice, a bit of a sleaze when it came to work, but when it came to me he was nothing but a gentleman. After about six months of dating he proposed..." She paused for a moment to catch her breath and gauge his reaction, but she knew no matter how he was feeling at that moment she needed to continue.
Another soft sigh, "I said yes. We had another six month of planning for our very big, overly indulgent wedding, he wanted to invite everyone we had ever met, which meant everyone he'd ever met and the people of my 'mortal' life only... My list was small..." She shook her head, sighing at herself, she was rambling, "Anyways, sorry, stupid details... I had every intention on getting married and having my family with this man..."
She looked at Zephyr again, knowing that he may feel hurt or confused, but the next part would either make or break them, "The night before the wedding I had been packing all mine and Conor's stuff up for our big move to his apartment. It was bittersweet, but I was as excited as a bride-to-be should be I guess I can say. That was until Conor found an old moving box, it was my CHB memory box. I had tucked it far away in the back of his closet, and being two and a half he had to find out what was in it. Next thing I know I see him wearing your old stupid Red Sox cap that I stole..."
At this point as she motions to her head, the tears start to to overfill her eyes, she is mad at herself for them but that doesn't mean she can stop them, "And like now, I start bawling like a child... Conor looks so much like you and even then he had your eyes and that stupid grin you have that melts my heart, he hit a place in me that had not been touched in many years..." A quick wiping of her face as she calmed her emotions back down.
"After a good long snuggling and tight hug in which confused Conor, considering I was still crying like a crazy person the whole time. I took the time that night to go through each item in that box and talk to Conor about them... Almost all involved you in some way, a napkin from the burger joint, token from the batting cages, a couple casino chips from Vegas, tons of old photos and little love notes, a broken alarm clock from the night you hit on Lorelei, the necklace I have of the bottle caps from the first night of truth or dare.... There were just so many memories... So much that I had tucked away and thought had disappeared but they were always there, I had just pretended they didn't exist anymore."
Another soft sigh as she uncrossed her arms, placing them in her back jean pockets, "I called Nicko the morning of our wedding... yes his name was Nicko, I keep it with the Greeks apparently, moving on. I called him the morning of and told him that I would not be attending my own wedding, that I would give everyone back their gifts and call everyone on the very large guest list and tell them that I had made a mistake..."
"He didn't take it well, it hurt me to hurt him, but I knew I couldn't go through with it. At that point I had realized I was just trying to fill a Zephyr shaped hole with a Nicko shaped piece, it was not going to work no matter how much I tried or thought I wanted it to... I know I could've just pretended it never happened and just not told you, acted like it has not been so long since we saw each other..."
She stepped back and leaned on the counted behind her, she needed something to support her but she did not want to make assumptions when it came to Zephyr, "I just could not live like that, I could not feel like I was hiding anything else from you. It is hard enough knowing I did that do you with Conor; I couldn't do it again." She took a long moment, to take a break and gather her thoughts again. Everything needed to come out but she just really needed to relax and admit that it was for the best.
"I love you Zephyr, I loved you for as long as I have known you just about. Even when you'd piss me off, I still felt the same about you. I know this is a bunch to take in and if you aren't sure how you feel about things now, I get it."
Another deep breath, she was realizing that her ramblings were going on only about herself, but she knew that's all she knew about the last years of her life, Zephyr wasn't there and he was not supposed to be, for the first time ever she followed the rules, and now she was regretting the moments that he missed, the times she had weakness take over her and she almost made the biggest mistake of her life. It was all flowing back, she needed to know some things about his life and she needed him to know the same about hers.
"I mean I am not kidding myself and saying you didn't flirt or have a fling or two, but I don't know if you had gotten serious with anyone else, you could've been engaged or even married. I know who you are at your core, but there are so many things that we missed that I just want the big things to be known. I was engaged, I broke it off the day of the wedding basically, I have a man and many friends who truly hate me because of it."
"I made many mistakes and I did a bunch of stupid stuff thinking it was for the best, in the end I learned. I don't know how else to say this but you are my true home Zephyr, even if we aren't meant to be together in a romantic way, I never want to lose you again. As I said... I love you, without you I was hurting and I knew it, but I never knew I'd have another chance to be with you. I wish I would've went to you the minute I found I was pregnant, I truly believe we could've made it work somehow, someway, at least that's how I feel now... I really thought I was doing the right thing. I know you would've been there for me and Conor... I was scared."
