She didn't know if it was his mother or her father, maybe both, but he was alive and probably will get better soon. “I feel a bit warmer. But I’m not sure that I can still stand." She smiled and looked at the ghosts, they moved closer and lifted alistair, then started moving to the Infirmary...
The battle against the Manticore happened hours ago, while it was still the moon all over the camp, but by that moment the sun was up and it was warming the cold Camp, melting the remaining ice and anyone could listen to the sound of the voices of the campers training and having breakfast, the Half Blood Camp was alive and everything seemed to be just as always. But it wasn't, at least for two people that were in the infirmary for hours by then.
The infirmary was like always wide and neat. some Apollo children were there placing everything in it's right place and checking how many bandages they had used in the young man that came in like floating, suspended on the air. By his side was walking a young girl that seemed to be sweating due the effort, as if she was lifting the guy with her mind or something like that. She placed the man on a bed and then thanked someone or something, then she asked the Apollo kids for some help to save the life of the man.
Well several hours had passed since that happened. Beth was sitting on a chair right beside Alistair's bed, she was there holding his right hand. she seemed to be really tired as if she had fought the manticore too, dark mark under her eyes, her skin was cold as if she had lost all the blood that he had lost. It wasn't that, it was just the effort of keeping the strength of the ghosts while they carried alistair into the infirmary.
She wasn't moving from that spot until she knew he was healthy and fine. she wasn't asleep, she couldn't sleep because she was too worried about him. She had gotten Alistair's dog into the infirmary although it was prohibited, so he could be by Alistair's side too.

Alistair had passed out after the battle with the manticore. He was mentally berating himself. His technique was sloppy, his moves were very rigid, and to top it off he would be in so much pain when he woke up. He was only marginally aware of the floating sensation as Beth assisted him with getting to the infirmary. Maybe the massive hole in his shoulder had closed due to his prayers to his mother, maybe it was Beth’s prayer to her father, maybe it was both, but even with the closed wound, the amount of blood that had been lost was enough to make him black out. Alistair’s breathing was shallow and his heart beat had slowed. For a moment he had seen hell hounds in the forest. Did Beth call them? He wasn’t sure. He owed her his life. That was a debt he wouldn’t be eager to repay if it put her in danger once more.
His eyes opened up a fraction of an inch. The brilliant white colors almost made him wonder if he was dead and this was the judgment pavilion. Alistair wondered who would be there to judge him and if he would be able to achieve paradise. But that wasn’t so. Alistair drew in a sharp breath, the air chapped his already dry throat and the dry air hurt his lungs. It hurt so bad to breathe. Suddenly he was very aware of himself. His body ached in more than one place; it was as if he had been hit by a bus. Alistair had some sneaky suspicion though that the bus would have been more forgiving than that manticore was. Alistair took in another deep breath, yes he was in pain. He groaned and rolled over as he felt a presence beside him. Wait…two presences. But the one that he wanted at this particular time was on his right, Beth. Alistair put a hand on her cheek and he cleared his throat. “You cried for me. I didn’t think anyone would miss me.” He stated as he tried to keep his breathing normal.
Alistair sat up; he was suddenly a bit chilly. He realized that he was shirtless and he blushed. He quickly checked to make sure he was at least wearing under pants, but with the number of bandages covering his body, modesty wouldn’t matter at this particular point. He remembered his grandmother always chided him to wear clean underpants. You never knew what would happen and you didn’t want to go to the ER with dirty underpants. “Thank you Beth. I couldn’t have done it without you.” He said gently as he kissed her cheek. There was a loud bark. Alistair looked up to see Barkspawn leap on the bed. There was a surge of pain as the mastiff landed on his midsection. “Get off me you brute. It’s nice to see you too.” Barkspawn licked at his face, making him stick his hair up in every conceivable direction. Barkspawn barked happily as he then bounced over to lick at Beth, Alistair could only imagine that it was a thank you for helping him out.

The hours of wait ended after some hours. Beth was looking at the window when she heard Alistair's breathing changed, she looked back at him and saw how he was waking up. she smiled widely and then looked at Barkspawn and then back at Alistair. He groaned and she knew it would be because of the multiple wounds and bruises that he had all over his goddly perfect body.
When he opened his eyes and rolled, she moved her head and chuckled. How was it possible that this man couldn't lay low for a while! "don't..." she was about to tell him not to move when he looked at her and passed his hand over her cheek. “You cried for me. I didn’t think anyone would miss me.” She smiled and another tear ran down her cheek landing on his thumb. she nodded slowly and thenbreathed deeply to control herself and hold back the tears and the broken voice.
"of course I cried for you!" she said with a smiled, then rolled her eyes at the comment that he tought that no one would miss him. "you... fool" she wasn't used to say rude words or to curse, but this time she was half mad at him, she hated the idea of losing him, even when she knew that maybe he wouldn't care for her as she did for him, she really had a crush on him. "I'm sure more than half of the Camp would have missed you if you were gone... me on top of the list!" She said and then smiled a bit more. Her scottish accent was more evident when she was nervous or upset.
when he moved to sit up, she shook her head again. "don't move, you'll open your wounds... again" the sheet fell off his bare chest and she remembered that the medics took his clothes off. She wasn't sure if all of them because she didn't look when they were bandaging him, but the thought of that combined to looking at his wide chest made her blushed like a tomato. She looked away from his torso and looked at the window again. “Thank you Beth. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
when she heard his voice again, she looked back at him and smiled again, then shook her head slowly. "you wouldn't be here if it wasn't because of in the first place... I am the one who needs to thank you for saving my life." she smiled and blushed even more if it was possible when he kissed her cheek. Then she heard a bark and looked at Barkspawn. "shhh... silence..." she tried to silence the huge dog.
she smiled and giggled when the mastiff got on top of Alistair, she knew that would hurt him but she also knew that Barkspawn would never hurt him for real. "remember you must be quiet, if any of those Apollo children see you in here, they will force you and me to go out" she winked at Barkspawn. Then the huge dog licked her cheek and she smiled a bit more. "I know... and it was my pleasure" she pet the dog's head.
Then she looked at Alistair again with a more serious face. "please, don't do it again... I know who is my father and I know there are a lot of beasts that would want my head on a spear because of that, but you are much more worthy to this camp that I would ever be... I couldn't bear it if something happened to you..." she said knowing that if he didn't feel that crush on her too, he would find her final words quite weird, but she needed to tell him all of what was in her heart.
