If there were ever a place that Eli felt the most comfortable around camp it would be the forge. When he was a camper here he had practically lived in there. Eli wasn’t exactly the most people person type of guy. He was more comfortable around machines then he was people. It was a sad truth. So here Eli was sitting at one of the work benches inside the forge scraps of this and that sprawled all over the work bench’s surface and screw driver in hand and working on a small metal box.
Eli was focused on his work but it wasn’t as though if someone came up to him and asked him to help them with something Eli wouldn’t do it. What he was working on wasn’t so important that he had to finish it right away he just preferred to finish things that he had started that was all. Eli was one of the younger adults, someone closer in age to the campers. It hadn’t been long since Eli had been a camper himself actually so he could still relate to the campers better then some of the other adults that had been out of camp for a longer period time.

Fiona walked through the camp, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly slacked. Everything around her was a mix of bright and dark colors swirling around in her own fantasy world. She continued to pop the last few gummy pieces of her special recipe in her mouth and chew, the flavors going wild and singing to her as her world swirled around her coming to life.
The cabins had changed into their individual styles, her favorite being the Demeter cabin which came to life as a large flower that bloomed with millions of little flowers and plants inside that would talk and chat with her every time she came near. As she continued through the camp the now cloud-created Hermes cabin floated through the air and spun about her head like a balloon losing air. A giggle escaped her as she covered her mouth and continued on, a couple of cards, a spade and a club came up to her and began chatting away but Fiona just rolled her eyes slightly and pushed through the two.
As Fiona continued on down the babbling stream that had turned a pretty teal color with bright and dark purple rocks underneath it, she happened upon a building she had never really ventured to before. It was a large metal building with coils of metal shaped into hearts and looped around one another. It was dark with highlights of pink and red. Heat flew off of it but it only made Fiona want to venture in more.
As she walked inside her eyes lit up at all the sparkles that filled the air around her, everything was lit up, hot and steamy but beautiful. That was until she happened upon a person before her, she stood there staring at him, he was a man... well a rabbit man... a metal rabbit man.
It threw the daughter of Demeter for a loop and all she could do was stand behind him and stare, eyes wide...

Eli wiped a bead of sweat from his brow and suddenly felt the intense feeling that he was being watched as in stared at. Eli turned around to find the wide-eyed Demeter girl. “Um…can I help you?” Eli asked. The girl was just staring at him. It was kind of weird and somewhat made Eli a little uncomfortable. But he was there for the campers if they needed him so he would just have to get over his feeling of awkwardness. Eli put his screwdriver down and shoved it into his pocket. He’d come back to the box later.
You would think that seeing as Eli was now the mentor of the Hades cabin, which by far had to be the creepiest cabin like ever, that Eli could handle being stared at by a girl that looked so much less scary then any of the Hades kids, Goth stereotype or not. But no, being stared at in silence was a bit unsettling for the son of Hephaestus.
He had no idea that she was seeing him as something that he totally wasn’t. Something that was a little out there. No he wasn’t seeing what she was seeing at all. So he didn’t know why she was looking at him strangely. Eli scratched the back of his neck awkwardly waiting for the girl to reply.

Fiona just stood there staring at him for a moment or two longer after he talked, trying hard to understand the words coming out of his unmoving mouth. Tilting her head, she scrunched her brow up and stepped forward a bit more, trying to hear him better.
She began to look him over trying to look beyond the veil of her Wonderland, but it was of no use. Sighing slightly she shook her head then stepped back arms crossed, "For a metal rabbit you sure do have a normal voice..." She smiled ear to ear, giggling slightly before she looked behind him and on the desk what in reality was a screwdriver had become a pocket watch.
Grinning, she looked back at him, "Are you my white rabbit to lead me through the rabbit hole?" She chuckled again, "Are you late for a very important date? Or is the Red Queen going to come and chop off mine and your heads for talking?" Her babbling was all in joke, she knew in her head that he was probably some random camper and the hallucinogenics were making her mind see him in such a way, but it was still fun to jest about while she could.
"So rabbit-man, what is your name? How about your story?" She smiled widely and plopped down on the ground in front of him onto her knees, sitting like a child would if someone was to read to them.

Eli raised an eyebrow as Fiona studied him in silence. He blinked when she called him a metal rabbit. He’d been called all sorts of things before and had all sorts of nicknames but he’d never been called a metal rabbit. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to take it as a compliment or what. He wasn’t sure how he was supposed to respond to that at all to be honest. And why was she giggling at him now? Eli was really confused.
What was she talking about now? White rabbit? Red Queen? Chop off their heads for talking? Huh? Okay this girl was a little scary. Strange but scary. What on earth was she talking about? Eli honestly didn’t know but then again that wasn’t saying much. He blinked as she asked him his name and ‘story’ calling him a rabbit once again before taking a seat on the ground in front of him.
Eli looked over his shoulders “Um…I’m…” he was trying to figure out if this was some kind of joke that the campers were playing on him or even the adults, it was possible, or if this was real. “I’m Eli.” He said noticing no one was around laughing at the scene between him and the girl. Eli took a seat in front of her. Well it was more like he squatted balancing himself on the balls of his feet protected by steel-toe boots. “My story…well. I was just fixing this um…are you okay?” he asked finally deciding to see if this girl who kept calling him a rabbit and talked of madness was feeling alright. If not he’d have to take her to the infirmary.

Fiona smiled brightly at Eli as he looked at her with the metal bunny mask not showing one emotion, she found it scary, exciting, and funny all in one. Giggling a bit more she continued to til her head about it, attempting to try and see his real face.
Once she had sit down on the ground she intently smiled happily up at him, her attention all focused on him. The sparkles and swirls moved all around him, when he said his name was Eli she smiled even bigger, "Hello Eli my metal rabbit friend, I am Fiona." She giggled again and tilted her head even more when he knelt down and started to say what he was doing but interrupted himself with asking her if she was okay.
Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes for a moment, Fiona took herself down from her high, using her plant control powers to make the plants effects less and less. It took her a couple minutes but she finally opened her eyes and smiled seeing a normal looking young man in front of her. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry had gone on a way fun trip but I can see it was concerning for you..." she chuckled a bit, "No worries, good news is its great for creativity, not so great for meeting new people when they have no idea what you are on or who you are."
Looking around, Fiona laughed a bit and pushed herself back onto her feet, "Well I can honestly say this was the first time I sat on the floor of the forge," she looked down at him, "So Eli was it? I am assuming Hephaestus child, and seeing as you are in none of my training classes, I'm guessing you are one of the adults here, right?"

Okay so Eli kind of got the metal part in ‘metal rabbit friend’ but where did the rabbit come from? Eli was starting to think this girl was truly insane she had to be but then she took a deep breath and all of a sudden she was fine and talking normally. “Alright if you say so…” Eli said not entirely sure he believed her or not yet when she said she was fine after he had watched her ‘become sane’ after a couple of minutes.
“Yeah…it’s Eli. And yeah I’m one of the adults here. Just barely though. Still adjusting to not having to stay in the cabin with my siblings and trying to find my new niche here. I never was really great with people.” Eli said as he stood up and stretched slightly from crouching down. “So…I looked like a…a metal rabbit?” he asked. “That’s interesting what did it look like?” he asked. “Can you sketch it?” he asked turning towards the workbench and searching for a scrap of paper and a pencil.
Eli was somewhat intrigued maybe he could replicate and build this ‘metal rabbit’ that Fiona had saw. “Sorry…so ah. You’re a Demeter kid right?” he asked trying to figure out what made sense in what had just happened to her and how she had been acting.

Fiona laughed a bit at Eli, she shook her head slightly, "Yeah, I say so, and I promise I'm not completely insane... Not just yet at least." She grinned a bit, knowing that he was probably completely confused, and more than likely freaked.
"That's pretty cool, I am really close to getting out of my cabin but with my luck they are going to run out of apartments or something by the time my birthday gets here." Watching as he stood up, Fiona chuckled and nodded, "Yeah, you looked like a metal rabbit." She raised her eyebrow as he seemed to get interested and asked her about the looks then how to draw it. "Oh uhm, yeah, I can totally sketch it out for you but it was pretty freaky but awesome to me... Gotta remember it was out of my head."
She smiled and chuckled a bit putting her hand up, shaking her head, "Oh don't worry about it, getting into things is pretty awesome to me. And yeah, Demeter kid am I." She tucked her hair behind her ear, "I had been testing out lots of different flavors and combinations of plants to create some safe, delicious snacks that will give people a chance to experience a fun trip that will let them explore their dreams and minds. Basically an escape from reality that wont harm anyone."

“I don’t think they’ll run out. Besides we’ve got a ton of builders at camp to make more or remodel to expand them.” Eli said. Eli found a small scrap of paper and a pencil that thankfully wasn’t broken and scooted them over to Fiona and quickly drew his hands back.
When Fiona said ‘getting into things was pretty awesome to her’ Eli couldn’t help but mutter, “not if you get into trouble for it” under his breath. “Oh…um…alright.” Eli said not exactly sure how to respond to the camper making ‘hallucinogenic’ that she would be giving the other campers. Eli stuck a hand in his pocket and ran the other over his hair briskly. “So uh…is there anything I can help you with since your hear?” he asked.

Fiona smiled brightly, "Thanks, thats good for me to know, I mean we are going to wind up with huge skyscrapers hidden by magic and the forest eventually if things don't get better soon."
Tilting her head slightly at his fidgety-ness, Fiona gently took the pencil and paper then walked over to his workbench, "Is it okay if I use this to draw on? I mean I can get on my hands and knees and do it that way if you'd prefer..." She looked back at him, unsure what he was okay with. Then she saw a good size piece of sheet metal that didn't seem too sharp on the edges, "Actually you know what, this is even better." She grabbed it and set it up behind the paper as if it was a portable easel.
Smirking slightly at his muttering, "You only get in trouble if you let someone win over you. Never accept a first offer, even if its punishment. Nothing is set in stone and everyone can be swayed." She shrugged slightly and just decided to start lightly tracing the image of the metal rabbit onto the paper, just an outline at first, looking up at Eli occasionally making sure she got the image right.
She smiled a bit at his response to the talk of her herbs as she started to add in more fine details to her sketch, "I am not just handing these things over to kids... I am giving them to the infirmary so they are used under medical supervision, I test them on me because I can control the effects if things turn bad. But others cannot do that, I also make sedatives, anti-poisons, tranquilizers, and sometimes definite antidotes that will help the medical staff with any bad trips, so no one will become hurt or ill from taking something that their body or mind cannot handle." She talked as she focused intensely on her drawing. "I make them delicious so that people are more willing to take them and they are great to help figure out traumatic incidents and internal problems without stressing or shocking one's mind too much."
As she started to shade and rub her thumb along her marks to make the drawing perfect, she looked up at Eli and smiled, "I could use a large apothecary wardrobe with tons of metal air tight bottles that can be labeled and a chemistry set made of natural materials that won't mess with my mixes... Plastic baggies and old take out containers just aren't cutting it anymore, they aren't very sterile nor do they look good." She laughed a bit as she finished up her drawing then handed it over to Eli.

Eli chuckled lightly at Fiona’s comment. “If things don’t change we might end up with something a little like Olympus’s city in our forest” he said. Of course he’d never been to Olympus or the city in the sky that surrounded it but he’d seen some of the schematics when the Athena kids weren’t hording them of course.
Eli started to nod when Fiona asked if she could use the workbench he had been using. It wasn’t his personal workbench, after all but then she found the sheet metal and used that instead. Eli really wouldn’t have preferred her getting down on her hands and knees to draw it would have made him even more uncomfortable then he already was.
Eli raised an eyebrow at Fiona’s mention of how you only get in to trouble if you let someone else win over you. Eli was pretty sure that wasn’t how it worked, especially not in the outside world where you could get arrested for getting into trouble. He was pretty sure he didn’t understand what she meant by everyone can be swayed and nothing is set in stone. How do you not accept a first offer of punishment, Eli was pretty darn sure you don’t get a choice when your being punished, well not usually. But Eli made no comment about this except for facial expressions that Fiona probably didn’t see as she sketched away.
“Oh...well I guess that makes me feel a little better then if it’s given out by medical supervision and what not” he said. Eli nodded as she listed off the things that he could make for her. “I can do that. Give me a few days minimum to find the materials I need and I’ll iris message you when it’s done and ready for pick up. Any preference on style, material, color you know” he asked.
Eli took the drawing and looked at it thoughtfully placing a finger over his lips with the rest of his fingers and hand resting on his chin as he studied and held the paper with the other hand. Interesting. The back of his mind was like gears turning as he tried to figure out if he’d be able to construct a replica of this. It was a little freaky looking but at the same time intriguing. So this is what the Demeter girl saw him as when she was ‘out of her head’ as she called it. It didn’t seem like it would be too hard to make. Maybe he could make up a prototype first see if it would work. “Thanks…this is great” he said.

Fiona smiled, "I think having a city of demigods would be kinda neat... You know like when everyone is different no one can be singled out. I hope that makes sense."
She looked up from her drawing on the ground and giggled up at him, "Sorry Rabbit, I get antsy and love drawing." She looked back down and continued on. Smiling to herself as she watched her dreamworld's creature come to fruition.
She looked up again at his silence and watched his face, smiling to herself, her lips keeping tightly together for a moment or two. "You aren't much into debating are you?" She grinned ear to ear, "My dad has some controversial views when it comes to the law and rules, I have been taught to talk someone into submission... Say I decided to cover the entire forge with pretty flowers as a prank on you; technically I should get it big trouble right? I mean it would slow down productivity and definitely make things a little more stressful and difficult for ya'll." She laughed at that, "So I should get punished fairly heavily, you know grounding and stables along with basically any other horror they can throw at me... But yeah, I would just discuss the importance of childhood rebellion and how my flowers were slowing production they brought a certain lightheartedness to camp along with provided the forge double protection by blending it more into the forest." Fiona's grin never stopped, "So by punishing me heavily it would only bring down spirits of campers and possibly make me rebel even more... Basically you can talk your way out of anything if you come up with the right angle and know what you are talking about to some degree."
She nodded her head as he mentioned how it made him feel better, she smiled when he said that he could do what she needed, at the mention of design she paused for a few moments, to truly think about it, "I would love it if you could try and make it antique looking, you know Victorian-era pharmacy look... I kinda have a think for Steampunk." She smiled ear to ear before her finished drawing was handed over, watching his reaction closely.
She tilted her head curiously at his words, "Great huh? Nice to know you like my minds view of you." She laughed a bit.

“No I really am not into debating. Arguing causes conflict usually and I’m not very good with debating anyways.” Eli said. He listened as Fiona explained and saw it made plausible sense. “Wish I had your way of rationalizing things. Would have kept me from nearly going to juvie.” Eli said. Eli hadn’t exactly been the best kid growing up. “Well I wish I had known that back when I was younger would have save me a whole lot of trouble” Eli said.
“Victorian steampunk, gotcha. That’s not too hard actually. “ Eli said as he took the drawing. He looked it over his face changing expressions as the gears in the back of his mind turned. “This is pretty cool. Seems easy enough to replicate actually, given the right equipment, tools and supplies…” he said trailing off at the end. Eli looked up from the picture at Fiona. “Thanks” he said.

Fiona softly chuckled at Eli, "I feel some pity for you Metal Rabbit, you are a son of a god... If you channel that you can do anything... powers or not." She smiled and shrugged slightly, "It comes from my dad, its not always a great thing to rationalize everything, but at the same time if you can find a way to dance a little sidestep you can give yourself time to make choices."
"Juvie? Sounds like you may have had more going on than just needing to learn to rationalize and talk your way out of things." She lightly giggled, but nodded, "Well, it seems like you have learned from your previous choices."
Eliza slightly squeed at the thought of getting her own apothecary set up, add to the fact that it is going to be perfect and fit her dream. If he even got close to her vision Fiona would have to dance around and do some cheers. Regrouping her emotions, Fiona smiled, "Thank you so much, glad that I could give you some ideas."
She brightly smiled even brighter, "Never a problem Metal Rabbit."

It has been a while since I’ve heard anyone say they pitied me” Eli said. He nodded. Her words were wise beyond her years; her father must have been a great man who raised Fiona right even if he let her indulge in illegal drugs which he wasn’t so sure was good parenting but Eli wasn’t one to judge. His own mother and uncles had surrounded Eli with machinery and cars for as long as he could remember.
“Yeah, tried to steal a car to impress some friends at school, wasn’t my best judgment call. Was actually on a bus headed to juvie when it was attacked by a monster and although I got my freedom back I also learned the truth about myself. I though I knew how cars worked and how to fix things and what not from being around my mom and uncles all the time didn’t think anything about the fact that I had an affinity to fire until later, just thought I had a pyro manic problem though it didn’t hurt anyone.” He said.
Eli smiled as Fiona squeed at the thought of him making her apothecary. He was happy to see her happy. To see that his skills make others happy always brought him joy. Eli looked at the sketch again. “You know this would make a pretty cool looking welding helmet actually. You know make the eyes out of the protective welding film that welding helmets have. I might have to get that started on when I’m less busy with others orders…though I could toss some of them to my younger siblings and let them have a go at it. But this… I want to do it myself” Eli said.
